It seems like the guys that i would give a second glance seem interested in me and the guys I go crazy over are either defective or taken....is this common?

yes girlie it is better to do that, after all it is NOT all about the looks

Looks will get you only so far but they are important. If you're not completely happy with someone (looks, personality, etc.) then you shouldn't waste your time. You will find one (many) who you are attracted to that also like you back.
