i am a simple guy. i'd much rather sit in front of a campfire, drink some beers, roast some keilbosa.......instead of dressing to the 9's and going to some high scale martini bar.

to me......an f-350 pickup truck is a sign of excellence......not a mercedes or bmw.

take me to the county fair or a football game instead of some kind gourmond restaurant.

dont get me wrong, i do occasionally enjoy gourmond type things. but for the most part, i am a simple man.

what kind of woman are you?

  1. I can go gourmet or campfire, though I prefer to stay away from the county fair....people come out of the woodwork around here.

  2. Yeah, some ladies, ;), are very laid back about stuff and aren't like the HM ladies some of us have come to know rather well.  Some ladies are really cool and would be really awesome to hang with, without all the bells and whistles we're so d**n used to having to bring to the table.

I guess some of us just like drinkin' our beers from mason jars.  Some of us were born in the wrong place, son.

  3. I am not a selfish women. I have been taught to appreciate what I already have. I am not greedy at all I like to help others it's in my DNA. Unfortunately I have a tenancy to give to much to others and not to myself. I am more like a giver. I take care of myself and others. I love to make my friends happy I do anything. I would give them the moon if I could!

I was raised to be grateful for everything. I hate when rich people don't do anything for the unfortunate and poor. Celebrities are very selfish and don't care for others like Donald Trump. He can kiss my tight @ss.

  4. Well, I'm a pretty girly girl (ie-nails & hair pretty much always done, I wear makeup). I'm also a traditional woman, I want the kids, husband, dog, 2 car garage, & white picket fence out in the suburbs. I want to be an elementary school teacher. I am Ethiopian so I'm pretty cultural (into languages, diff. cuisines, music, etc.) , definitely NOT outdoorsy but I can survive in the outdoors. Also NOT stuffy/uptight/prissy. I prefer shopping & a trip to the opera/ballet/art gallery over camping, rock climbing or skydiving. Hope that helped!

  5. I never had any interest in gourmet restaurants etc, and certainly not bars, since I don't drink, and few things are more boring than being in a bar with an organge juice or something while everyone around you is getting happily pissed.

When I was young I did quite a lot of sitting around campfires as I belonged to an historical re-enactment society, and it was fun.  I wouldn't mind doing it now.

My husband and I both love sailing, and going out in our little sailing boat is our favourite thing to do.  We had a sail on Tuesday and it was wonderful, perfect sailing weather, a bright sunny day, enough wind to carry the boat along easily, but not so much that it was a struggle to control.  And yesterday we took the children to the beach and I spent most of the time in the sea with no.2. son while my husband (who is not fond of swimming) sat on the beach watching no.3 son dig holes in the sand.  and we had fish and chips for lunch.

    That's my idea of pleasure.

  6. I actually had an impromptu bonfire with some friends last night.  We drank  beer, ate  ribs and listened to  music.  I like my dresses, but I love my faded jeans, wife beater and boots.  I like to go to the bar to shoot pool, I like to have the men gather at my house for football games. I can make a  mean spread for game night and I am pretty good at fetching the men their beers. lol  I love the sounds of men watching the game...the rowdier the better.

I  drive a Suburban though. lol

I do enjoy the finer things in life, but in moderation...it makes them  much more special.  I enjoy getting dressed up and going to the occasional play or concert and I feel just as comfortable in these situations as I do sitting in my backyard.

  7. I am the kind of girl who has regular facials, pedicures and manicures done. I spend a lot of money on my hair, clothes, bags and shoes. I love my Louis Vuitton shawls. I stay in expensive hotels and I recently bought an astronomically wallet-emptying bed.

High maintenance? Yes, I am. However, I have been known to run around the bonfire barefoot with a huge bottle of vodka and home-made pickles. I like expensive restaurants and nouvelle cuisine. But I have been known to cook fantastic roast chicken for my close ones. I prefer nice clothes and meticulous appearance. However, I was seen in nothing more than my flip-flops and a nightgown trailing through the snow.

I also have two degrees and the majority of my friends are not exceptionally well-off and castigate me endlessly for my spending sprees.

I prefer to be multi-faceted, whilst always remaining feminine. I celebrate diversity and embrace others who might be complete opposites of me.

In my opinion, it is not how high maintenance you are, but how you treat others who are not like you. I do not have a problem with those who prefer to put the money away for tomorrow or drive in a tractor, as long as they accept me, in my ,different to theirs, outlook.

There is, however, one particular type of people I avoid at all costs- either high maintenance or laid back- it is those who judge others who are different, and label them as either "shallow" or "simple minded" without knowing what the person is beneath the facade of a truck or a BMW.

  8. i like a little of both ....doesn't everyone?  some  weekends shopping and eating out --- others yard work and cleaning ... some vacations camping & some in the best hotels. some days pony tails other days ... s**y hair!

  9. Oh, gracious, no. That whole high-maintenance thing strikes me as being way too much work for no return. I keep telling my parents that they'd better look to my sister for their hi-falutin' pretty bride church wedding, because when I marry, it's going to be jeans in the backyard.

I'm at the campfire with you, man. I'd much rather go hiking (or to the shooting range, or the library, or pretty much anywhere) than shopping.

  10. There's a great book about class that describes, among other things, why conspicuous consumption is a low/lower middle class preoccupation.  A person who buys overtly branded goods is spending money not on quality but on the hope they can jump into a higher class bracket in the eyes of others.

I would say a Benz and a F350 can both be conspicuous consumption in their own way, but the Ford has more utility value for certain people.  And you never have to get a gym membership because everyone and their dog ask you to help them move.  (Personally, I like Volvos because they've been dedicated to safety for decades.)

Home-cooked food is great and cool family-owned restaurants that have a fantastic menu are great too.  Any person, male or female, who goes somewhere to "see and be seen" is naive and wasteful, unless they're networking for their job.

Dressing well is a hard one...  it depends on why someone is doing it.  I have to appear professional so I often wear jackets and pearls.  I'm also a master's student, and it just gets tiresome to see everyone in ratty jeans and tshirts all the time.  I like to dress with personality, but not to appear high maintenance.

  11. I'm the one cooking the kielbasy and crushing beercans on her forehead.  The kind that wins Best In Show ribbons for her wild huckleberry pie at the state fair.

I'm working undercover at the moment.  Shh.

  12. Hey - I am OK with the campfire thing. But I like to be taken someplace nice every once in a great while.

An F350? hahaha - I don't agree with you there. I'm more of sub-compact, gas saving girl. My BF has the Scion B - meaning the Box. :)

I don't think I am hard to please. I don't go out much, don't really drink at all anymore, and like to just hang out and chit chat. I eat at home, make dinner more often (electric bills right now are killer) and just play on the computer or read with the man nearby.

What is a gourmond? Do you mean gourmet?
