Ladies remember when Stayfree used to make their ultra thin maxi's with sphagnum moss in the centre core?

They stopped using sphagnum moss because it was depleting the environment of it's natural resources.

With the landfill waste of non organic feminie protection would you say that could also deplete the environment as well?

  1. yeah for sure but s. moss is used all over the  world in extreamly large quanitys for a soilless potting mix hydroponics garderners who know there **** use it so i think they feed lies to the public cause that moss is thousands of years old and is dead when harvested and in huge amount in canada i mean there are huge swamp areas where it grows so to your question it it worse for our planet not to use it

  2. Doesn't sphagnum moss cause disease in people?  I thought they stopped using it because it can infect people if they have any type of a cut.  It is not safe and often gardeners use it as peat moss and they can get the fungal disease sporotrichosis.

  3. I don't actually remember that, but that's interesting.  As for feminine products being bad for the environment, they are.  They are used one and thrown away.  I have a heavy period, so I started to feel bad about using so many pads and tampons.  So I looked into an environmentally friendly alternative.  I've been using reusable menstrual cups; I've used them for a couple of cycles and they work really well and while they are expensive at first, they save you money becuase they last years.
