  1. My mom picked me up for school and I said "Mom, I hate my period, I want to go on birth control! It keeps not showing up on the right time and this is really annoying when I am at school! It's embarrassing!" Then she made me an appointment at the gynecologist and I got on birth control. I think it is better to be honest with your parents than to go around their backs going to the health department or Planned Parenthood. If your parents can trust you to be honest, they can trust you to be safe.

  2. I recently went through this conversation with my mother and although it wasn't the funnest conversation, it was needed. I've always had bad PMS and my dermatologist also suggested it for my skin. Plus, I wanted to be more safe. So I told my mom that birth control is a lot safer than it was during her generation, and how bad periods affect me, and that there is a safe way to make a not so fun aspect of the female life better. I also mentioned that the goods of birth control really out weighed the bads. For my mom, it took more that just one conversation before she agreed to it, but once I told her how much I would benefit from the pill. I hope it all works out for you

  3. I never did ask my mom. I have always been responsible for my own birth control.

But what I would suggest you do is to tell your mom that when you do have s*x that you will be responsible. That birth control is only part of being safe.

Remember to always use a condom.

  4. You can always visit a local planned parenthood. You do not need parental consent and in most cases its free.

  5. if you don't want to tell her it's because you are having s*x...than tell her it's because your having cramps really bad and heavy bleeding and that you read in a magazine that birthcontrol pills can help that. (which is true)

but if you don't care about her knowing your sexually active just start up the conversation like "hey I was thinking mabey I should start taking birth control pills because I really want to be safe and responsible"

  6. Just generally start a convo and tell her you want to protect yourself. Most mothers are proud whenever their daughters do the responsible thing. If you're ashamed to use it, and you shouldn't be ashamed to be on birth control and just can't ask her, you can go to the free clinic and they give you free birth control things.
