my son is 7 months now and probably for 5 months now i've had horrible upper back pain that won't go away, i've been to the doc several times, get massages, and stretch, and even had medications prescribed and they only seem to temporarily help.....i think it's cuz of the baby, but I can't not pick him up anymore, and i get sad that I hurt too much to play with him like I know I could.

Did anyone else experience this?and how did you fix the problem? He's only getting bigger! and I won't be able to carry him around much if this continues. Any advice???

  1. Yeah, the same thing has happened to me. I'm still trying to figure out what to do about it, as well.

  2. How big is he? You just need to exercise your back. Because your back is weak and no longer strong because of the pregnancy and giving birth.

  3. I'm going to a spine specialist right now.  I think he is going to give me cortisone injections for the pain.  Some clinics do the trigger point injections for pain so look it up in your local area.  I would go to a doctor or a physical therapist for some manipulations.  good luck. I know how it is and it ain't fun.

  4. Yes, yes, yes! I just went through this. I have had back pain for the last 2 years after having my second child. She is now 2. I had massages. They felt great right after, but never got to the root of it. Recently my back just totally went out on me last week after I picked my 2 year old up. I tried meds and they did not work. What did work for me was the chiropractor. It took 3 sessions, but I am feeling GREAT now. I could not move for two days. After going to him twice I was mobile. The third time, I am no longer in pain.

Also, make sure you ice your back. I got a gel pack and iced it for about an hour, took couple hours off and iced it again. It really helps. I also had to get different tennis shoes. I was wearing ones without support. My Dr. recommended New Balance 800 series. You can find cute ones, they cost a little more, but they are SUPER COMFY.

Good luck. It is no fun with back pain. Oh, and when you do pick him up, do not BEND over, bend your knees and lift. That has always been my mistake!

  5. you need stronger back muscles, try doing sit ups with a wieght.

Take glucosamine everyday to get fluids back into your joints.
