Lady Chaparral in form for the City Of Ripon Stakes (Handicap)
Taking part in the Class 3 City Of Ripon Stakes (Handicap) are fourteen three-year and above contestants. The entries that have gathered for the mile, a furlong and 170 yard, have come from diverse backgrounds with races at different levels and with different outcomes. The race will be held at Ripon on Tuesday, 28th August and carries the prize money worth £6,931.
A candidate who seems ready to perform and deliver in the race today is the five-year-old bay mare, Lady Chaparral. She has raced six times during the new season with one of the unsuccessful tries at Ripon and two victories otherwise.
She cracked into the season with a third position in the Innovation And Coco Ice Of Bawtry Fillies’ Handicap on 28th April, 2012 at Doncaster over a mile and 2 ½ furlongs. Dragonera won the race by the mere margin of a neck and the favourite entry for the race, Night And Dance, ended fourth in the field of seven.
High Chaparral’s daughter’s very next race was at Ripon on 20th May, 2012 in the Middleham Trainers Association Handicap over a mile and two furlongs. However, it did not prove very lucky for the mare as she ended fifth behind the winner, Veiled Applause.
The first success of the Michael Dods’ trained was in the Lloyd Ltd Carlisle Bell Consolation Race (Handicap) on 27th June, 2012 at Carlisle over a mile. She defeated Lockantanks by a length with Tom Eaves onboard.
She stayed submissive at the initial stages of the race and became prominent when the final two furlongs were approaching. She kept a firm grip on the lead inside the final furlong which eventually got her the race.
Filling up the third position behind the winner was, Moheebb.
The next time the bay mare out of, La Sylphide, won was at the same race course on 6th August, 2012 in the Edinburgh Woollen Mill Stakes (Professional Lady Riders’ Handicap) over a mile.
The favourite entry landed the race by the margin of ¾ of a length and set Hot Rod Mamma as the runner-up. This time she was paired up with jockey, Kirsty Milczarek.
The 10 to 1 entry will race with, Tom Eaves, and the two will break out of the first gate.
