Lady Lisna strikes the first victory of the season in the Grade HP at Kinsley on 3rd January
On 3rd January, the Grade HP 650 metres flat race was hosted at Kinsley. The race reeled in six hounds and offered a prize money of £64, grabbed by Lady Lisna, trained by C Parker.
J Bentley’s entry was sent off as the 5 to 2 favourite in the race, while the rest of the entries were sent by S Carrington, L Wilson, A Pearson, J Hurst and C Parker.
The daughter of Hondo Black out of Lisnahavil, born in October 2009, Lady Lisna led the race, after breaking from the second stall, till the wire.
She finished the race in 41.22 seconds. The C Parker trained hound claimed the race and won the £64 purse.
The runner up for the race turned out to be J Hurst trained Drumcrow Net, son of Hondo Black out of Drumcrow Sabrina, who lost by a mere length, missing the chance of being the one winning it in the first place.
His total time to finish the race was recorded to be 41.30 seconds.
The hound who finished third was A Pearson’s trainee, who ran through the track without being obstructed at all and concluded the track distance in 41.36 seconds.
Leaping through ¾ of a length and making it to the other end of the wire was L Wilson’s, Roo Post, tackling the distance in 41.42 seconds, and finishing fourth.
He led the fifth position holder of the race, Grillagh Patch, by ¾ of a length. Grillagh Patch too, after running through the clear track, made it to the wire in 41.48 seconds.
He is trained by S Carrington and the hound was ahead by a length’s difference.
The 5 to 2 favourite of the race, Welton Jeff, trained by J Bentley made it to the wire in the end and took 41.56 seconds to sum up the race.
The race was an extremely close tussle between all the participants as the longest length by which any hound led the other one was, rather the third, fourth and fifth, just ¾ of a length from one another.
Lady Lisna could not have had a better start to the season, winning a Grade HP, and leading the track from the gate to the wire.
