Lady Of Shamrock and Eden’s Moon in contention to win the Grade 1, $300,000 Del Mar Oaks
The Grade 1, $300,000 Del Mar Oaks at Del Mar on 18th August, 2012, will be an exciting place to be, since Eden’s Moon and Lady Of Shamrock will be battling it out over the distance of 1 1/8 miles.
Since both the runners are exiting victories, they will be tough to beat.
Eden’s Moon, who is currently under the training of Bob Baffert, won the 1 mile Grade 2 San Clemente Handicap at Del Mar on 22nd July, 2012.
On 23rd June, 2012, the 3-year-old filly tried her luck in the Grade 2 Hollywood Oaks over 1 1/16 miles, but finished as a runner-up to Potesta.
The daughter of Malibu Moon has only competed once over 1 1/8 miles in the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs in May, 2012, and the results were not satisfactory because she ended up in 13th place.
This time, she will have to stretch out in distance yet again, and prove that she can go the extra mile.
In 7 starts, the Kaleem Shah owned filly holds an overall record of 3-2-1 and she looks determined for another victory.
Eden’s Moon has the ability to adapt to different conditions. In the San Clemente Handicap, it was her first time on turf, but she handled it well and claimed a vicotry.
The fact that she is versatile will give her an edge over the other runners.
Lady Of Shamrock scored for her trainer, John Sadler, in the Grade 1 American Oaks at the Betfair Hollywood Park, and will not hesitate to perform an encore.
Over 1 ¼ miles, she bolted through the track and finished ahead of My Gi Gi.
The Hronis Racing owned runner has plenty of experience over 1 1/8 miles, so she might be more comfortable over this distance.
The sophomore claimed the Grade 3 Providencia Stakes at Santa Anita and then finished second to My Gi Gi in the Grade 2 Honeymoon Stakes at the Betfair Hollywood Park.
Long Face, My Gi Gi and Indigo River will also compete with the hope of some glory.
