About a week ago I got pulled over by a lady cop for going 45 in a 25. The place I got pulled over in was in a rural town (I had just turned on a 25 mph road coming from a 55 mph road) I'm not from around that area so I didn't know. But she wrote me up for going 1-5 over. I called the place & they said it was 2 points (I live in michigan) and the ticket was $100. I'm going to court later this month to fight the points...Any advice for me?? I've heard about traffic school...Anyone know about that? This is my first time ever being pulled over, I'm a pretty good driver, clean record. What about court cost, etc?? Any advice is apriciated. Gracias!

  1. You should just be happy you didnt get a bigger ticket, and you know you were speeding. Theres no way outve that. Just pay the ticket and move along.

  2. Just pay the fine.

    take traffic school

and you should be thankfull she only wrote 1-5 over the more 6-10 the higher the fine is.

  3. Get a lawyer if possible.  My friend's lawyer cost $100 and he got him off a $110 ticket.  It was well worth the cost.  If you cannot afford a lawyer, then dress nice (conservative), and be polite and respectful but state your case -- ie; have a clean driving record, would like to go to traffic school, please reduce the fine.  That will probably work.  Good luck!

  4. i wouldn't really worry about it to much you will be fine with a good lawer because he will tell u what to say. all i know is if you can help me with my problem with cops?

  5. Since she did you a favor of writing you up for the lowest speeding ticket you may be able to take traffic school. If it is offered, read all the paper work the officer gave you with the ticket or call to find out, take the school. You have to pay more up front but it is worth it. Your record and your insurance costs are not affected if you take the school. You pay the cost of the ticket plus the cost of the school and attend, that is it, no conviction, no points and no upped insurance rates.

  6. Take an ONLINE traffic school. I took a fanstic one with http://www.ticketrelief.com

  7. U broke the law, suck it up!

THE COP DID YOU A FAVOR GIVING U A TINY SPEEDING TICKET!

Thats like you going and doing a robbery, and the cop only gives you tresspassing charges, then you go to court and try to weasel out of that, even though they gave you a charge way less than you deserved.

You broke the law, you did 20mph over the speed limit and got wrote up for like a 1/4 of it.....so just be happy with that and learn from it.....

Your not gonna get out of this one..the cop did u a favor, your lucky she didn't give you a big ticket cuz you wouldnt get out of it..........and you would have insurance rates that you couldnt afford...

Thanks to her your not taking a bus or walking!

  8. 1. Stop whining.

    2. You got caught going 20 over-a $450 ticket where I am from-and only got a $100 ticket- BE GRATEFUL

    3. Pay your fine

    4. Slow down

    5. Stop whining

  9. Traffic school is an option.  If you complete traffic school successfully your points disappear.  But you can only use traffic school once.

Your best bet is to use a lawyer.  They charge about $50, but they can get the points eliminated.

  10. By fighting this 1-5 mph ticket when you were actually going 20 mph over you are in danger of s******g yourself over, big time.

Typically if I cut someone a major break by reducing charges and they fight the ticket, I will request the DA's office or city attorney (who ever is dealing with the case) to refile the case with ALL the charges.

Thus instead of taking the tiny fine and points, you will face the full 20 mph charge which depending upon jurisdiction could be up to 5 points and $300 in fines, together will another $100ish in court costs.

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.
