  1. they eat aphids, those tiny tiny insects that eat flowers but unless u want to starve or suffocate the ladybugs i would release them. think about it one larva will eat about 400 medium-size aphids during its development to the pupal stage. An adult will eat about 300 medium-size aphids before it lays eggs. About three to ten aphids are eaten for each egg the beetle lays. More than 5,000 aphids may be eaten by a single adult in its lifetime. and isnt it  a little cruel to have those poor little bugs trapped and crowded in a ziploc bag? at least put them in a container or something. or better yet, PLEASE release them. they r good for ur garden too so y would u wanna kill tehm?

  2. Get them an aquarium! A Ziploc bag is too small, with not enough oxygen. Get at least a 2.5 gallon tank with a wire mesh lid. Ladybugs eat aphids, which are little green bugs. Here's a picture. http://www.cs.ualberta.ca/~games/aphid/g...

There are no substitutes for aphids, no food for ladybugs that are so nutritious. If pressed, though, they will eat your dead skin, a nasty tasting replacement of food which has next to no nutritional value. Plant a petunia, and when you notice lots of aphids on it, place it in the aquarium.Lightly mist it with water every 2 days. None more, or you will drown your ladybugs! if you can't get a petunia, let the ladybugs free in your yard and watch them fly away.

For water, go to your local pet store and buy the jelly that contains water intended for crickets or lizards. This will encourage them to drink.

tank set-up: place an inch of dirt on the bottom or your tank. Pat it down. put 10 moist leaves in a corner and place the water jelly on the leaves. Than scatter more leaves randomly around. Get 3 9 inch sticks and prop them against the tank walls. Place the petunia in the middle and let the ladybugs free. You're done! It wasn't too hard, wasn't it?
