Ladybugs on the 22nd floor?

Hi,

i live in a city, granted there is a lot of green not too far from here, but i also live on the 22nd floor... who knew ladybugs could get all the way up here?

for safety reasons we cannot have screens, but i cannot have the ladybugs or the wasp that was here.

i was thinking of putting up some sort of cloth screen and taping it to the metal window frame... i only open the window about 2 1/2 inches because i have a kitty - they slide open sideways - and the vertical blinds would mostly cover up the rustic screen.

does anyone have any tips for what materials would be best, what kind of tape i can use that will be easy to remove after a couple of years, and won't leave hard-to-remove residue?

any plants or herbs i could hang that would deter the bugs?

i need to open and close the windows for rain or whatever, so the tape needs to be cooperative.

any productive thoughts would be appreciated.

Please do not kill the Lady Bugs, they are not PESTS, they are a very beneficial insect, they eat aphids. I suspect that there was a larger than normal "hatch" and that is why you are seeing them, these hatches usually only last a couple of weeks and then your problem should disappear. Let's face it, there is nothing to attract them to the 22nd floor, they want foliage not cement.

We have ladybugs and they are attracted to the very sunny side of houses here.  Home improvement stores have little screens that can fit between the window sill and the slightly raised window bottom.  They are only a couple of inches tall, so your cat could get some air.  They usually leave the area after a couple of weeks but can be a pain while they are around.  Some people vacuum them up when they get really bad, but I hate to kill them.  Good luck.

At the home Depot they have a product called Ortho home invasion and it will take care of your lady bug problem. I used it in my house in the country and it killed everyone of those suckers.
