The Bayern Munich skipper has insisted that the German champions will start the season as favourites and has also regarded Schalke as a threat.

“Dortmund are deliberately acting modest, and let's face it, it's served them well over the last two seasons. But I think the club that have won back-to-back titles start as favourites, although there are other title candidates.
I have Schalke on my radar for example, they'll be there or thereabouts,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, the captain stressed on the importance of winning the Bundesliga in the next season. He admitted that Bayern have a rich history and they cannot afford to disappoint their fans for the third year running. He
is targeting silverware in the upcoming campaign and wants to end the trophy drought.
“We had become used to winning the Bundesliga at least every second season. But we fell short, and that basically cannot be. The title is our priority. I definitely still have a deep yearning for more trophies,” he concluded.
Bayern Munich will face their traditional rivals Borussia Dortmund in the DFL-Supercup on August 12 at the Allianz Arena. The Bavarian giants will kick start their Bundesliga campaign against Greuther Furth on Friday, August 24.
