Bayern Munich right-back Philipp Lahm has dismissed rumours linking him with a move to the Spanish capital.
The Germany international featured against Jose Mourinho’s side in this year’s semi-final of the UEFA Champions league, and put in a good shift. The Portuguese tactician is thought be a big fan of Lahm. Reports suggested that he
wanted to bring in the 28-year old to stabilise his defence and replace Arbeloa.
The defender, who is Die Nationalelf’s squad to face Portugal, was flattered to be praised by such a successful manager. The Bayern Munich captain was quick to dismiss the rumours, and said a transfer was the last thing on his
mind.
The only thing he has on his mind at the moment is winning the Euro 2012 with Die Mannschaft and he will not let all the speculation distract his attention from the task at hand i.e. beating Portugal in their opening fixture of
Group B. The German has advised Mourinho to apply for the managerial position at Bayern if he wants to work with him.
"It is great praise from such a coach, never say never, but he would have to come to coach Bayern for this to happen,” he is quoted as saying in an interview.
The defender, who is on a long term contract with the Bavarian giants, is not willing to swap Munich for Madrid. He feels his side are capable of fighting for top honours in Germany and Europe and he has no reason to seek a transfer
away from his current club.
"I've got a long-term contract and I feel very comfortable here," he added.
It is highly unlikely that the Munich club will let their prized asset leave for a European rival. Lahm, on the other hand, would prefer to stay at the club. The German captain, is a product of the Bayern Munich youth system and
has a legendary status at the club for whom he has made about 203 appearances.
Although it does not take long to turn a player’s head but Philipp Lahm is a different sort of player a ‘One Club man’ and who will most definitely finish his career with the Munich club.
