Lahore Eagles v Karachi Dolphins – Faysal Bank T-20 Cup, 2012/13 (Group B) – Match Update – Dolphins win by 3-wicket margin
Led by off-spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dolphins-c781’ bowling attack kept the Lahore Eagles down to a low total, eventually going on to secure a 3-wicket victory over the Eagles in their Group B match during the ongoing Faysal Bank T-20 tournament, played on December 4 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
The Dolphins won the toss and decided to field first, with joint Player of the Match Atif Maqbool (4-0-20-3) leading the charge, while http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-Khan-c76384 (4-0-12-2) chipped in with a supporting performance.
The Eagles suffered an early blow with the dismissal of opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taufeeq-Umar-c92889 (17) and Azhar Ali (24) joined forces to set up a 40-run stand for the second wicket, which got the team total up to 44 by the 7th over.
The Eagles’ suffered another set-back with the swift dismissals of both batsmen by Atif Maqbool – the skipper trapped lbw, and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Junaid-Zia-c69672 (9) falling without putting up much of a fight, leaving the Eagles at a precarious 97 for 8.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Khalil-c77063 (3*), Nasim enabled the Eagles to reach 113 by the end of 20 overs, at the expense of 8 wickets.
The Dolphins’ batting performance was barely any better, but the team was bolstered significantly by opening batsman and joint Player of the Match Shahzaib Hasan, who scored a run-a-ball 30, including 1 six and 2 fours. The only other batsman to pass the 20-run mark was http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahzaib-Hasan-c2488 for a 38-run partnership for the second wicket – the highest on the Dolphins’ side.
Three other batsmen – skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Anwar-Ali-c45231 (14*) – managed to register double-digit scores, and the handful of contributions enabled the Dolphins to successfully reach 115 with 3 wickets and 8 balls remaining.
The victory is the Dolphins’ second in the ongoing T20 tournament, and while both the Dolphins and Eagles now have equal points, the Eagles are currently ahead on account of a superior net run-rate.
