Lahore Eagles v Rawalpindi Rams – Faysal Bank T-20 Cup, 2012/13 (Group B) – Match Update – Rams secure easy 8-wicket win
Bolstered by half-tons from Awais Zia and Naved Malik, the Rawalpindi Rams claimed a comfortable 8-wicket victory over the Lahore Eagles, in their Group B match during the Faysal Bank T-20 tournament, played at the Lahore City Cricket Association Ground
today on December 6.
Having chosen to bat first after winning the toss, the Lahore Eagles put forth a string of decent performances, despite the repeated assaults of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Samiullah-c88304 (4-0-23-1).
Openers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abid-Ali-c41790 followed suit 3 overs later, sent back to the pavilion by Samiullah, but Saad Nasim anchored
the remainder of the innings with an unbeaten 44.
Sami Aslam (20) joined http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Awais-Zia-c46838 swept in to take Sami Aslam out of the game in the 12th over. Nasim followed it up with a 34-run stand with Babar Azam (14), and a 31-run partnership
with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Asif-Raza-c46503 (19).
Both partnerships were brought to an end by Yasir Arafat, who snapped up both http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Babar-Azam-c1122 and Asif, and by the end of 20 overs, with 5 wickets down, and Nasim and Imran Ali (0*) at the crease, the team posted a final total of 155.
The Rams, however, made light work of the chase, with openers Awais Zia (54), and Player of the Match http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Naved-Malik-c78901 (77) setting up a massive 135-run partnership. Having completed more than half the chase, the stand was broken up in the 13th over,
with the departure of Awais Zia, stumped by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adnan-Akmal-c42042 off Waqas Aslam.
Naved Malik followed suit in the very next over, caught out by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umar-Amin-c94597 (4*) racked up the remainder of the runs.
Their unbeaten 11-run partnership took the team home safe, enabling them to reach 156 with 8 wickets still in hand, and 33 balls remaining.
