Lahore Lions v Quetta Bears – Faysal Bank T-20 Cup, 2012/13 (Group A) – Match Update – Lions maintain winning streak with 44-run win
As yet unbeaten in the ongoing Faysal Bank T-20 tournament, the Lahore Lions continued to dominate the top of the Group A points table, after an emphatic 44-run victory over the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Quetta-c835 Bears (their 5th consecutive win during the competition),
in their encounter at the Bagh-e-Jinnah in Lahore, today on December 5.
Having won the toss and elected to bat first, the Lahore Lions were unable to make much of an impression during their innings, with the Bears’ Jalat Khan (4-0-23-3), Player of the Match Mohibullah (4-0-15-3), and Arun Lal (4-0-23-2) on the prowl.
Opener Nasir Jamshed top-scored for the team with a quick-fire 26 off 16, including 6 boundaries. He was joined by Ahmed Shehzad (20) for an opening stand of 42 runs – the highest partnership of the match. However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nasir-Jamshed-c78752 was eventually dismissed
by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Arun-Lal-c46114.
Skipper Mohammad Hafeez (19) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohibullah-c77561, leaving the Lions at 91 for 4.
Wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lions-c808’ innings went downhill. The rest of the middle and lower order failed to take any responsibility, and aided by some minor contributions
from Sohail Ahmed (9), http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adnan-Rasool-c42062 (4), the Lions posted a final total of 130 by the end of 20 overs, at the expense of 9 wickets.
However, the team managed to make up for their mediocre batting with an aggressive bowling attack, which succeeded in executing a successful defence of their total. Tanzeel Altaf (1-0-1-2) led the charge, and was backed by Adnan Rasool, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sohail-c90628 Ahmed, Mohammad
Irfan, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Hafeez-c76898, all of whom put in a solid team effort and picked up one scalp each.
Only three of the Bears’ batsmen succeeded in making it past single digits, and even then, the contributions of Mir Wais (16), http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sabir-Hussain-c87775 (14), and Jalat Khan (14) failed to do much for the team. With the remainder of the batting order crumbling under
the pressure, the Bears found themselves at a dismal 86 for 7 by the end of 20 overs, with the Lions claiming a comfortable 44-run win.
