Lahore Ravi v Lahore Shalimar: Quaid-e-Azam Trophy – Match Recap
Lahore Ravi thumped Lahore Shalimar by 244 runs in a match of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Division Two at the Lahore City Cricket Association Ground in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 on Sunday, October 9, 2011.
Lahore Shalimar required 375 runs for victory, but were all out for 130 runs in their second innings. Earlier, the team’s skipper Kashif Mahmood had opted to field first after winning the toss.
The pitch appeared to be a very good one for the batsmen, but Kashif expected some assistance for the seamers in the first couple of sessions of play on the first day.
The decision seemed to be a good one, as the Ravi openers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hamza-Paracha-c1526 and Junaid Jan got out cheaply after scoring eight and 14 respectively, leaving the team in a spot of bother at 36 for two.
However, Mohammad Saad and skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abid-Ali-c41790 steadied the innings for their side with a solid half-century stand. They put together 90 runs for the third wicket partnership.
Abid missed out on a half-century by just three runs, as he was sent back to the pavilion after adding 47 runs to the total.
Saad did not miss out though, as he went onto make 66 runs with the help of five boundaries. He had laid a solid platform for the lower-order batsmen, but they failed to capitalise.
Lahore Ravi were all out for 276 runs. The team would have been pleased with the score after they were put into bat by the opposition on a seaming wicket.
Shalimar’s Ali http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Manzoor-c74308 was the pick of the bowlers, as he took a six-wicket haul in the innings.
However, the team was unable to post a solid first innings total after restricting the opposition to less than 300 runs.
None of the Lahore Shalimar batsmen managed to score a half-century in the first innings and the entire team was dismissed after collecting 192 runs. The highest score came from middle-order batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Sohail-c77373, who ended up with 44 runs.
Teenager http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Irfan-c76983 picked up six wickets for Lahore Ravi, helping his side gain a first innings lead of 84 runs.
Paracha once again missed out in his second innings, getting out for six runs. However, Junaid and Abid put on 113 runs for the second wicket partnership. They scored 53 and 108 in their respective outings.
Mohammad Saad and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hafiz-Saad-Nasim-c61260 remained unbeaten on 55 and 56 respectively, guiding the team to 290/3. The innings was declared with an overall lead of 374 runs.
The Shalimar bowlers struggled to trouble the batsmen this time around, as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hasan-c61990 Dar managed to pick up just one wicket.
The team was under immense pressure to chase down a huge total. They only managed 130 runs, as none of their batsmen managed to bat with responsibility.
The highest scorer of the innings was opening batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ahmed-Dar-c42312, who contributed 28 runs to the total.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Irfan-c64444 completed a 10-wicket haul, taking four wickets this time around.
