Lake James Oyster Roast golf tournament starts October 24
For those who fancy the Texas scramble, the Inaugural Lake James Oyster Roast golf tournament will serve as a good place to conjure the format. This event will be held on the 23rd and 24th of October at the Marion Lake Club, Nebo, North
Carolina.
According to Greg Parker, this could become their signature event. The former All-American at NC further added that they are striving to make this event as their moniker affair which will continue for a long time.
Greg Parker, a Marion Lake Club regular believes that his main focus is on rounding up a pay-off between $600-700 per flight. The event is planned to be a 36-hole event in a serene environment of towering mountains and high leaf spell. If this isn’t alluring
enough, the event is due to hold a picnic area after retiring from the rounds. The post-round milieu is scheduled to hold a mouth watering buffet.
The menu for the Lake James Oyster Roast golf tournament is already decided and includes shrimps, new potatoes, corn on the cobs, pork, crab legs and of course, roasted oysters.
The event will follow a Texas scramble format. This play would require two golfers each who will tee-off from the captain’s choice. After teeing, the rest will be played from their own ball. The number of flights can vary according to the size of the competitive
field.
The first round will be held on Saturday at 6 p.m. The affair has an entry fee of $100 where the field will be limited to the first 60 paid teams.
The Marion Golf Course is a petite and unyielding golf course that requires extreme accuracy and precision. The 18-hole course is designed in an old fashioned way for those who like to play a meticulous game of golf. Parker has played at many mini-tour events
and believes that the $100 on offer is in no way a small amount.
For those who focus on playing long drives, then the course is bound to give you some short cuts due to trees and the long iron or wood will depart the short approach shots. This is one of the shortest layouts courses in WNC and will provide a difficult
time in deciding the approach area.
Greg Parker summarised the event as an enjoyable team format, with a lot of money, a scrumptious meal and a striking location to play the game. Parker added that the final entry date has been set at October 20th 2010.
