If an adult (who is very depressed and angry) is taken to Lakeside through the hospital, can they voluntarily leave or have to stay for a certain amount of days?

The mother along with a hospital official decided that it was the best option for treatment.

In most places, a person can be held for 72 hours against their will if they are deemed to be a danger to themselves or others. After that they either have to cut the person loose, convince them to stay, or get a commitment order from the court. You probably need to talk to a lawyer in your area to see what the law is there.
