Lakers continue to dominate Warriors with an easy win
Golden State Warrior’s new head Coach Keith Smart, who has had a dream start to his NBA career, would have been hoping for a third straight win, a feat which the Warriors have not accomplished since 1994-95.
His hopes though, were thrashed by a dominating Los Angeles Lakers, who have hit the ground running this season and seem have an eye on a third championship in a row.
The Lakers have become a nemesis for the Golden State Warriors in the recent past. Los Angeles Lakers have passed 114 points or more, eight times since they took the field against their opponents during their nine match winning streak over them, a domination
which dates back to March 23, 2008.
Lakers got their 10th win over the Warriors in style as they thrashed them by a whopping margin of 24 points. The final score stood at 107-83.
The odds were stacked against the Warriors from the beginning as they were without their star player Stephen Curry. The phenomenal point guard re-injured his right ankle in a successful cause against the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday.
The match started with the Lakers in a dominant mood. They completely outplayed the Warriors, continually outrunning their opponents with their supreme athleticism to blank them. Lamar Odom slipped in a 3 point jump shot from 26 feet out to end the first
quarter on a 20 point advantage at 14-34.
The Golden state warriors rallied back in the next two quarters, but the Lakers kept a tight leash on the match and never allowed the Warriors to get back into the game. The teams went into the locker room with Lakers comfortably placed at 56-38.
The Lakers, who got outscored by the Warriors in the second and third quarter by a combined margin of 3 points reverberated back to sprint to a 12-2 run early in the fourth to squash all hopes of a comeback by the Warriors.
The Lakers continued their domination over the Warriors in an emphatic manner. Pau Gasol led the way with 26 points 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Kobe Bryant chipped in with 20 points, while Odom had an all-round game with 16 points and 14 rebounds.
As for the Golden state Warriors, too much pressure was on Monta Ellis in the absence of Stephen Curry and it showed in the game. He managed only 19 points complemented by 18 from Dorell Wright in a match where the Warriors never really got out of their
stride.
