Lakers head coach Mike D’Antoni praises the Los Angeles Clippers – NBA Update
Times have changes at Los Angeles when it comes to basketball.
The Lakers, with 16 championships in their storied and well documented history, are no longer the alpha dogs in California.
Not even close.
The Los Angeles Clippers, on the other hand, have emerged not only as the best team of the land, but the best one in the entire league. At 25-6, the Clips have by far the best record in the NBA, and after a 107-96 win over the
Utah Jazz tonight, Chris Paul and company have stretched their winning streak to 17. That is two more wins than the 15-15 Lakers have managed so far in this season.
The Clippers have done despite the arrival of so many new faces during the summer. They added Matt Barnes, Jamal Crawford, Willie Green, Grant Hill, Ryan Hollins, Lamar Odom and Ronny Turiaf in the off season, but are still playing
with momentum, any well primed team will be proud of.
The Clippers have turned a few necks with their astounding performances, including those of their often cocky neighbours.
"They're real good and they're having a great streak, so we'll have to reckon with them and they're kind of setting the bar of where we need to get to," D'Antoni said before the Clippers went on to beat the Jazz .
"As much as you notice Oklahoma City," D'Antoni whose team will take on the Clippers this Friday, said. "As much as you notice Miami. You watch. They're a very good basketball team but I don't get caught up that they're across
town. You can't help where they are. But yeah, they're good."
The Lakers also had some huge transitions to their roster during the off season, but unlike the Clips they have failed to blend in into the team fabric. LAL have however slowly been inching back and their recent record proves that.
The team was 9-14 and at the spot in the Western Conference not that long back, but have since bounced back with six wins in seven games. They have no doubt been boosted by the return of Steve Nash, and should they continue to play close to what they have
been doing recently, the Clips can be in for a tough night, come Friday.
