What do you think about this move. Is it a way to replace Ronny Turiaf? The both average the same amount of points and boards.

  1. i think ronny was better because he had a lot of enthusiasim. i dont think powell has that. but he a ok back up.

  2. i think it is to replace turiaf... ronny is a better player, but their games are pretty similar, and so is their size...... powell is an energy guy just as ronny is, but not as overly enthusiastic as ronny.... he will get the job done tho... hopefully the lakers wont have to rely on him tho with bynum back..... i can see ariza taking more minutes off the bench and lamar sliding to PF some... turiaf would probably not get as many minutes as last year if bynum stays completely healthy.... so .... he was signed to replace ronny, but hopefully the lakers wont really need him

  3. This move completes Laker's off season acquisitions. On a per minute basis, Josh Powell's numbers are similar to Ronny's, though stats are often a product of the team's offensive attack; therefore misleading. With the Lakers, Powell will no doubt be asked to rebound and defend. His PT will be influenced by the effectiveness or lack thereof of Luke Walton and Vladimir Radmanovich.

All in all, a good signing.

  4. It makes me sad to know that instead of going after good defensive players or a much needed back up in the small forward department. They go after the leftover gargabe of once crappy teams.... sigh.
