Los Angeles Lakers sign Reeves Nelson and Greg Somogyi

As of Wednesday, the Los Angeles Lakers have brought in two rookies to fill up their roster for the 2012-2013 campaign. The first player being brought in is forward Reeves Nelson while another first timer Greg Somogyi is also being
given a chance for the duration of the training camp.
Both of these players are expected to be part of Lakers roster in the camps starting from October 1st but the non guaranteed contracts can live up to a tenure of one-year.
Nelson hails from UCLA. He was not drafted this year after being dismissed by the Bruins due to his lack of discipline. He played 68 games in UCLA colours and held an average of 12.1 points and 7.3 rebounds. The player was also
named the in the All Pac 10 first team during his sophomore year. The 20 year old forward was also part of the Lakers roster for the summer league, averaging 4 points and 5.3 rebounds.
On the other hand, Somogyi spent four seasons with UC-Santa Barbara while averaging 3.5 points and 2.9 rebounds. He was also present on the Lakers roster during the summer league but could only manage average 1.2 points and 1.6
rebounds while playing 7.2 minutes per game.
Orlando Magic owner Rich DeVos recovering from mild stroke

Orlando Magic owner Rich DeVos suffered a mild stroke few weeks back and had to be taken to the Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids on August 19th.
After brief tests and two days of being kept under observation, he was allowed to go home on August 21 and is currently recovering at home. According to recent reports, the co-owner of Amway Inc will be back to full health soon
and will again take over the operations.
Let’s just hope that his team, the Magic, quickly follows their owner on the path to recover as they look to bounce back from the departure of Dwight Howard, who left for the Los Angeles Lakers during the summer.
