The city’s famous sports complex Tajazai provided the backdrop for the tournament.
The Pakistan Army generously sponsored the event, while the opening ceremony of the tournament was attended by officials of Pakistan Army and civil officers from Lakki Marwat. Major Fawad and Captain Nawaz represented Pak Army. They were joined by Lucky

In past, a similar volleyball event was carried out in one of the villages of the district Lakki Marwat but it ended up in devastation.
In 2010, the village of Shah Hasan Khel in Lakki Marwat district organised a volleyball tournament. A large number of volleyball lovers gathered to watch the tournament but many of them lost their lives as a result of a deadly suicide bombing. Reportedly,
the tournament was on its peak when a suicide bomber approached the venue with his sport utility vehicle filled with explosives. He took the vehicle in the middle of crowd and blew up. The happy event turned into chaos, leaving at least 105 people dead and
over 100 with severe injuries.
Some 300 spectators were there to watch the volleyball game, whereas various local teams had come to showcase their talent on the centre court. However, for some it proved to be the last game of their life.
The memory of that event is still haunting. Nonetheless, the scenario in Pakistan has almost changed now. The life has come to normal and once again the healthy activities have started. The volleyball tournament in Lakki Marwat is a clear sign of improvement.
The 2012 Lakki Marwat Men’s Volleyball Tournament drew scores of game lovers to the venue who enjoyed the sport of volleyball and chanted slogans in favour of their teams.
