Former American International, Alexi Lalas viewed Geoff Cameron’s transfer to the Britannia Stadium as a beneficial arrangement for both Stoke City and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Houston-Dynamo-c39542, and backed the defender to come up good in the Premier League.
The Potters have reportedly hired the services of the 27-year old for an estimated 2.5 million dollars transfer fee, after a deadlock prevailed between the Major Soccer League and Stoke on the subject of his transfer fee.
Earlier, the defender himself had hinted that he was close to finalizing a deal with the Premier League outfit, and also visited http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 in this regard.
Since joining Dynamo in 2008, the towering player made 116 appearances for the club and netted 11 goals. In 2011, he was named an MLS All Star and featured in the All Star Game against Manchester United.
Lalas, a veteran of 96 international caps for the USA, insisted that Cameron possessed all the football traits which suited the nature of the game in the English league, and tipped him to succeed at the Britannia Stadium.
However, at the same time, he pointed out that it was not a rule that all the quality players are bound to meet instantaneous success, insisting that they all required a wee bit of luck to go their way.
He told the reporters in an interview, “You need a little bit of luck, timing and coaches that believe in you but, just on sheer ability and potential going forward, yeah, I think that Stoke and England are getting a quality player that they can be excited
to see.”
The 42-year old also believed that the fact that a MLS player has moved to one of the best leagues in the world will further bolster the already burgeoning popularity of the American competition, and termed it as a mutually beneficial arrangement for both
Dynamo and Stoke.
“For Houston it's good business because this is a player that came up from nothing and now they're selling him on for a good chunk of money. I think for Stoke in the market…they're going to recognise they're getting a good quality player.”
Even though Cameron plays primarily in the centre-back position, he also possesses the ability of offering a helping hand in the midfield, and can also link up with the attackers upfront.
