The former commissioner of Indian Premier League, Lalit Modi, has decided to appeal against the verdict after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Christopher-Lance-Cairns-c50906, won the libel case in London last month.
Modi, who accused Cairns for his involvement in the match-fixing during his time with the now defunct Indian Cricket League, was charged around 90,000 pounds in damages and other legal costs for putting false allegations.
The London High court has granted http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Modi-c76470 the permission of seeking relaxation in the amount of damages only; however, the business tycoon aims to appeal against the verdict too, as he remains confident in proving his stance.
''I have seen the judgment. All I want to say at the moment is that we are appealing the judgment,'' he said on Twitter last week.
Modi's Public Relation Officer, who was also the head of media for England's recent Fifa World Cup bid, Phil Mepham, has notified the media by email that they are carrying out all the legal formalities and will make the appeal before the deadline of April
20.
''There is no advantage or disadvantage to it being lodged either sooner or later, so will be submitted once the technical details behind the appeal have been agreed.''
Modi, in the first trial of the case has already presented three former players of Chandigarh http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780. The Judge, David Bean however, dismissed their evidences while calling them
“inconsistent and unreliable”.

The former IPL boss also brought forward an anti-corruption officer of the ICL, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Howard-c63371 Beer in his defense, who came all the way from Melbourne to testify. He told the court that the overall evidences he found during the investigation athough proved Cairns
guilty, still was not hundred percent incriminating.
Beer also told that he was prevented from a full-proof investigation by ICL executives as they wanted the league to stay away from any controversy which could affect their public image.
