Lalla Aicha Tour School: Cheyenne Woods performs well in second round
American Cheyenne Woods improved her position in the second round of Lalla Aicha Tour School 2013 as she posted a 68 to take the share of 15th position along with three other contenders.
Woods was confident right from the start of the LET (Ladies European Tour) Q School, being played in Morocco, but she could not find a place inside the top 20 in the first round.
The American star shot a 71 in the first round to stand tied for the 25th position on the leaderboard. The second round saw the young gun ramp up her scoring campaign, as she has
now put herself in a more comfortable position.
Woods started the second round on the front nine and parred the first three holes in a row. She then shot a birdie on the par-5 4th to set the ball rolling. Despite challenging
greens, the young gun held her nerve and launched her second birdie on the 7th hole.
On the back nine, Woods kept the momentum rolling all the way through. She drained three back-to-back birdies from the 12th to 14th.
Woods shared her thoughts while speaking to the media at the end of the round, saying she is pretty happy that she was able to boost her position in the second round, despite stiff competition.
Woods said that she could not make a fiery start in the first round, which caused her to face some trouble when she headed into the second round on Friday.
“My round today was really solid. I played solid throughout the whole 18 and I had a great back nine, with three birdies in a row and I ended minus four,” said Woods who is the niece of former
world number one Tiger Woods.
“I am just happy with the way my game is right now, so I hope to continue like this the next three days. My driver was a little off, but I was able to keep it in play”.
Spanish Virginia Espejo came on strong in the second round, firing a massive 66 to jump to the top of the leaderboard. Espejo posted a 68 in the first round, standing at the third spot.
