Lamar Odom happy at chance to redeem himself with the Los Angeles Clippers – NBA Update
Lamar Odom has come full circle. After starting his NBA career with the Los Angeles Clippers the forward is back at the franchise at the ripe age of 32. In between Lamar has been around the league, including an ill fated stint at Dallas Mavericks and some
hugely successful years at the Los Angeles Lakers.
His career though looked heading downhill last year, so much so that the Mavericks gave up on. The Clippers however have seen it fit to acquire the veteran, and Odom is happy for the chance to put things right, at the place where it all started for him.
"It's an opportunity to redeem myself and an opportunity to come home, and you can't pass at that," said Odom at the press conference arranged to announce a formal joining of the Clippers.
The Clippers are a team on the rise. Blake Griffin has become a super star in his own right and leads a front court that is athletic and dangerous, while Chris Paul has been nothing short of magnificent since coming over and has helped transform the side
into a tough matchup for anyone.
Now with Odom, the Clippers are hoping they can have that extra element and veteran instincts that would make them worthy of a title run. The forward certainly is looking forward to it and said he is confident he could make a sizeable contribution.
"I feel like I'm 19 again," said Odom. "Hopefully I can turn the clock back on the court as well, do whatever I can to help the team win games and erase that last season I had. I wasn't myself. I feel like I can help just by being myself.”
Odom also spoke of his joy at moving back to Los Angeles, a city where he has played for most of his career and calls home despite being from New York.
"This city has been great to me, and I love being here. ... This is my home. I grew up in New York, and I'm a New Yorker to the heart, but I'm so grateful to be able to wear these colours and represent the town. I'm lucky."
If the Clippers can get the maximum out of the two times NBA World Champion, there aren’t too many reasons they can’t have a solid run at the championship.
