Aston Villa managed a 1-0 victory over Reading last night at Villa Park, much to the delight of manager Paul Lambert and attacker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gabriel-Agbonlahor-c14288, who praised Christian Benteke’s performance and winning goal.

The summer signing scored through a second-half headed effort, giving Villa the lead and ultimately the three points. The Belgian striker has flourished in the absence of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Darren-Bent-c10358, and has been an important player for the Clarets since arriving in the
summer transfer window.

Benteke has made an impressive start to his Premier League career, and Lambert paid tribute to his performances. The 21-year old joined the Villans from Genk in a £7 million deadline day move, and has become first choice striker for the team after scoring
5 goals in all competitions. Speaking about the player, Lambert said:
“Benteke has been colossal for us; he’s been unplayable in certain games. He’s excellent, the big guy and he’s only 21-years old. The guy deserves to be in the side, he’s been absolutely terrific for the club.”
Winger Gabriel Agbonlahor also paid tribute to Benteke and said that he relishes playing alongside the Belgian. Agbonlahor sported the captain’s armband last night, and insists that Benteke has become a fan favourite already. The England international has
formed an impressive partnership with the striker, and is looking forward to playing more games with him. Speaking to reporters, Agbonlahor said:
“You can tell by the fans’ reaction how much they’ve taken to him. He’s still only 21, but he’s doing great for us. He’s helped with the goal tonight, and all credit to him.”
Agbonlahor then spoke about last night’s game, and admitted that Villa need to work on their performances. He added:
“It was a scrappy game but we’ll take the three points and move on.”
Aston Villa will travel to Loftus Road to face Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-c29347 Lambert’s side to 17th, with only 2 points clear of the relegation zone.
