Aston Villa manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-c29347 Lambert remains upbeat despite two heavy
back-to-back defeats in the Premier League, and insists that he has complete faith in his young Villa team.
The former Norwich City boss has backed his youthful Villa side to bounce back after suffering two heavy and embarrassing defeats in the Premier League.
The Clarets lost to Chelsea at Stamford in an astounding 8-0 score line. Villas were overrun by a rampant http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 side which took no prisoners and held back no punches.
Their next feat was therefore very crucial, and with Tottenham’s current form, Lambert knew his team would not be in for an easy night.
Villas hosted Spurs at Villa Park on Boxing Day, and after putting in a good first half, they collapsed in the second as Tottenham scored 4 goals and won the 3 points.
The defeat took Villa down to 16th place on the league table, and keeps 3 points adrift of the relegation zone. Lambert however refused to be brought down by his team’s recent results and performances, and urged them to hold their heads high and
march on.
With tonight’s league game against fellow strugglers Wigan on the horizon, Lambert has challenged his team to bounce back by getting a result, and has shown immense faith and confidence in them. The Scot insists that his team’s morale remains intact, and
that he never lets them dwell on results, whether good or bad.
Speaking to reporters, he said:
“I think I have always said that even when you win you let it go as quick as you can. You have to get it out of your system – the two defeats – as best as you can. If someone had said you’d take three points from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, Chelsea and Tottenham I think
everyone would bite your hand off.”
The manager intends to continue with his policy of giving the club’s younger players a chance in the first team despite their current position in the league. He added:
"I know that from my own experience, I've got a belief in the way we are doing it in the long-term this club will be great. There's no point me saying we're down there because of inexperience. This club was battling against relegation last season.”
