Question:

Laminate floor in kitchen and bathroom?

Some people say it's not a good idea to put laminate in the kitchen and bathroom because of potential water leaks. I'd be putting it on top of a concrete slab. The kitchen and half bath I'd putting it in is small. Do you think this would be a problem? If so, what are some better options for flooring in these areas?

  1. I think you'll find the answers to your questions by going to this Green flooring guide on the following website page:

There are a total of 15 pages branching off from this one on about every choice you can think of (including pros and cons)!

    Hope this helps!

  2. I installed a Laminate floor in my kitchen,  Ive had it for 6 years now with no issues between my son and the dog any other floor  would have been destroyed by now.

I will say that I glued the laminate floors as per the manufactures instructions where most of the water would fall ( around the kicthin sick ),

The best you can put down is Tile but cleaning grout is always a hasse, instead laminate floor a  damp mop a little mop and glow and it looks brand new.

  3. If you have a water leak you will have to replace your floor no matter what they are - except tile.  I have hard wood in my bathroom and never had a problem.  I had hardwood laminate in my old kitchen and never had a problem - we still talk to the new owners and they love it and have never had a problem and it's been 4-5 years since it was installed.

  4. laminate is great for a kitchen and it's easy to clean.

Most manufactures offer warranties against staining, scratching, cracking and peeling for up to 15 years
