  1. A square meter is a square meter.  A square foot is a square foot.  You've got to convert to all the same units of measure or else you will crash and burn like that Mars lander that had the height infomation for landing programmed in meters instead of feet.

You are headed for disaster if you insist on mixing meters and feet.

By the way, don't listen to kittybonehead. There are more than 3 feet in a meter.

  2. Measure each of your rooms both directions and multiply (in feet or meters). That gives you square meters (or feet) of each room. i.e. a 10 m by 10 m room = 100 square meters.

Add up the rooms and you've got your total. But you always need to add 5% - 10% to your estimate for scrap.

  3. Well obviously, if he said you needed 32 square-meters, just convert the meters into feet, approx. 3 feet in a meter. Or simply ask the guy who measured for the measurement in square feet!

And I was a little confused when you said: "The box cost $52.24 and each box carries 17.59 per box?"

I'm assuming you meant each box carries 17.59 square feet?

So take your final square feet and divide it by 17.59 and that will equal how many boxes you will need. Make sure to round up.

  4. OK, let's work out the math here.  1 meter = 3.28ft.  1 m^2 = 10.76 sq ft.  32 m^2 = 344.32 sq. ft.  Adding in 10% for waste, that gives you 378.76 sq ft.  Divide that by 17.59 (sq. ft. /box), and that gives you 21.53, or 22 boxes.  Hope this helps.
