Lamont Peterson: Amir Khan is acting arrogant – Boxing News
Lamont Peterson, in his recent interview, said that Amir Khan is acting arrogant and unpractical. According to Peterson, if Khan can fight better than how he fought in their previous match, why cannot he (Peterson)?
The current unified WBA (Super) and IBF Light Welterweight Champion Lamont Peterson said, “How can you just assume that I can't fight better than what I fought him in Washington DC and he can?”
This statement from Peterson came in as a reply to Khan’s claim that he would be better than how he was in his last fight and will defeat Lamont. Both the fighters will collide on May 19 at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas. It will be a title rematch
and if Khan is able to win it, he will have his unified titles back.
Peterson, who previously vowed to take the silent path to the show, added, “I won't say the same about him (Khan). I expect him to fight a better fight but, at the same time, I know I'm going to be better. He can overlook what happened in DC all he wants.
It's only going to hurt him to think that way, not me. So I'm glad he thinks that way.”
When asked about their previous encounter, Peterson replied, “There was no cheating going on in DC. Deep down inside Khan knows that.”
He then spoke about the points that were deducted from Khan’s score. He said that the judges should have taken points from his score since Khan not only pushed him but also forearmed him in the face. He said that you always and you always should be punished
for your wrong doings and there is nothing wrong in that. On the accusations regarding Mustafa Ameen’s presence at the ringside, Lamont said that Ameen had no business there but he was present. He added that Ameen did not have an influence on the scoring and
deep down Khan and his crewmembers know this fact.
Khan is currently preparing hard to take down Peterson, whereas Peterson has already said that this match will be a life and death matter for him.
