Lamont Peterson: I just won the biggest fight of my career against Khan – Boxing News
Lamont Peterson, the current unified WBA and IBF super lightweight champion, held an open workout session for the media. The champion spoke about his rematch against Khan on May 19 at the Mandalay in Las Vegas. Not only did Peterson spoke about his upcoming
match, he even spoke about how he felt when he became the champion.
When asked about how he felt when he became the champion, Peterson replied, “I can’t say enough about that. It just helped shape me and mold me into a person who really isn’t going to let anything change me being me. I’m going to continue to be me whether
my life if up or down. I can be in the worst place ever, but I’m still going to be me. I can be in the best place ever. I’m still going to be me.”
As of now, it seems like Peterson is not confident of winning against Khan. He has devised no special strategy to beat the British-Pakistani boxer. He added, “Anybody who’s ever watched me fight since I was 11, 12 years old knows I’m going to go to the body.
Regardless of who it is, how short he is, how tall he is, I’m going to go to his body. It’s not something I planned for Khan. It’s what I do.”
Moreover, he spoke about how he felt when he won the titles from Khan. According to Mayweather, it was the biggest victory of his career and he should have been celebrating but for some reason he felt a little upset. Finally, the American champion added
that despite all what has been going on, he knows he cannot enter the ring furious and angry.
Peterson won the titles from Khan in December last year through a controversial decision. Khan appealed against it to the IBF and the organisation ordered an immediate rematch for Khan. For now, Khan is preparing hard to make sure he makes no mistakes this
time against Peterson. Khan has been eager than ever to get his hands on Peterson to get his titles back.
