Lamont Peterson believes the commission will decide his fate – Boxing News
After an ugly revelation, Lamont Peterson feels dismantled, however he still is not intimidated by Khan’s accusations. The current IBF and WBA super lightweight champion believes that the commission will decide his fate and not Khan. In his recent interview,
Peterson spoke about the drug test conducted by VADA, which he failed.
According to Peterson, “Let the commission decide, let the sanctioning bodies decide. Until that point I'm still the champ. If the procedure I done is what gave me the dirty urine, then what else can I say? I made a mistake. That's all I can say. apologise
for it and try and move on with my career. But I think it's wrong for anyone to call me a cheat. I've never been a cheat. I don't like it when people cheat. It's just my word but the pellets didn't do anything to help me beat him. Boxing is really an unorganised
sport. So many things happen, back-door things, cheating, all type of things.”
He added that if he cheats he will never win and that is why he would never cheat. Peterson said that he is the type of person who loves winning and he does not want any drug to help him with that. He further said that no sane boxer would ever opt for the
usage of performance enhancing drugs knowing that they can get him banned.
The champion further said that boxing is already a rough sport and no one needs to make it rougher by using PEDs. Lastly, Peterson said that he wants the commission to believe him when he says he did not use any drugs deliberately. He pledged that he wants
the commission to believe that he did not do it intentionally.
Lamont Peterson’s drug test results were revealed earlier this month, causing his rematch with Amir Khan to be cancelled. Khan, who was training hard for the big day, expressed his anger and dismay over the issue calling Peterson ‘a cheat’. Khan also appealed
with the IBF to give him back his titles and reverse the decision of his encounter with Peterson last year. According to Khan, Peterson was juiced up for the fight, therefore the fight should be called a ‘No Contest’.
