Lamont Peterson claims he will ruin Amir Khan’s plans to reign over his division – Boxing news
The Havoc, Lamont Peterson, is confident of winning against the current World Boxing Association Super and International Boxing Federation Light Welterweight Champion, Amir Khan in their upcoming fight.
Peterson, who will take on Khan in a scheduled 12-round bout on December 10, 2011 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Washington D.C, told the media he has waited for this moment since long and he is not going to waste it.
Peterson, who has won 29 of his 31 professional fights (1 Draw), with 15 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, revealed winning a world title in front of his home crowd has always been his dream.
“This is the moment I’ve been waiting for my entire career, and to win a world title at home is something that I will remember forever. On December 10, I will make my dreams come true and ruin Amir’s plans to reign over his division,” Peterson said.
The 24-year-old Bolton’s finest, Khan, who carries a record of winning 26 of his 27 professional fights, in which 18 of them came by the way of a knockout, on the other hand is not looking very worried.
Though Khan, who is more commonly known as King Khan, reckons Peterson is a tough candidate and will have home advantage as well. He stated he is trying to improve himself and will become a true world champion on December 10.
“I always said I wanted to be active and a true world champion and I will prove it on December 10. I know Lamont is a strong contender but it doesn’t matter that I’m fighting him in his back yard, I’m coming in as champion and will leave as champion,” Khan
said.
This is Khan’s last fight before he moves up to the 147 pounds division where the likes of Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather operate. Moreover, Khan is trying to set up a mega-clash with the undefeated American legend Mayweather. Therefore, this is a very
important fight for Khan. However, let’s see if Peterson can really beat Khan on the fight night as Khan will enter the ring as a red-hot favourite.
