Lamont Peterson confident of beating Amir Khan – Boxing news
The Havoc, Lamont Peterson, is fully confident of beating the currently unified World Boxing Association Super and International Boxing Federation Light Welterweight Champion, Amir Khan, in their upcoming fight on December 12, 2011 at the Walter E. Washington
Convention Center, Washington, D.C.
The 27-year-old Columbian pugilist, Peterson, who holds a record of winning 29 of his 31 professional fights (1 Draw), with 15 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, told the media that he feels it is his time now to be at the top of the world.
“I'm more confident at that level, world championship fights, being more confident in doing what I know how to do,” Peterson said Tuesday. “I feel I've progressed enough to become a star in this sport. I believe that it's my time as a professional to be
on top.”
The 24-year-old Bolton’s finest, who is more commonly known as King Khan, is the number one in the British pound-for-pound list and he is famously known for his lighting fast speed but Peterson thinks he has better timing which will be enough to overpower
the Brit.
“I'm a timing type of fighter,” Peterson said. “He throws a lot of punches and he throws them in bunches. He's fast. But I'm fast too. And timing beats speed every time. Sometimes you can go too fast. Timing is everything.”
In the end, Peterson revealed he is just going to stick to his game plan.
“I'm going to work on the things I've been working on in the gym and stick with the game plan,” Peterson added.
Khan, who carries a record of winning 26 of his 27 professional fights, with 18 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, is going to move up to 147 pounds division after his fight with Peterson because Khan wants to set up a mega fight with the undefeated
American legend, Floyd Mayweather, who is a five-division world champion and the current World Boxing Council World Welterweight Champion.
Therefore, Khan will put in his best against Peterson, as he cannot afford losing the fight yet let’s see if Peterson can really shock the world by beating Khan on the fight night.
