Lamont Peterson insists Amir Khan has always fought shorter or older guys – Boxing news
The Havoc, Lamont Peterson, has insisted Amir Khan, who is the currently unified World Boxing Association Super and International Boxing Federation Light Welterweight Champion, has always fought shorter or older guys so far rather than taller, younger fighters.
Peterson is set to face Khan on December 10, 2011 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Washington. D.C and he believes he will provide the Brit with the toughest night of his career.
The 27-year-old American pugilist, Peterson, who carries a record of winning 29 of his 31 professional fights (1 Draw), with 15 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, told the media Khan has been very selective in choosing his opponents and most of
the times he had physical advantages over them.
In an interview to Sky Sports News, Peterson said, “I would say I’m the toughest fighter Khan has faced so far. In a lot of his fights, he’s fought older or much shorter fighters and he had a lot of physical advantages over them. He’s not going to have any
of those advantages over me. I’m much more comfortable at this level…To me, Khan is similar to Tim Bradley. They are hustle fighters. They just try to outpoint you…I’d say Khan is about the same challenge as Victor Ortiz or Bradley.”
The Bolton’s finest, Khan, who is more commonly known as King Khan, is currently rated as the best in the British pound-for-pound rankings. He holds a record of winning 26 of his 27 professional fights, with 18 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout.
Moreover, this is Khan’s concluding fight at 140 pounds division, as he is planning to move up to 147 pounds division in order to set up some big fights. Therefore, there are no doubts Khan will certainly give his best shot.
However, since the fight is going to take place in Peterson’s backyard nothing can be said for sure because Peterson will also have a home crowd advantage against Khan. Let’s see if Peterson can really beat Khan in the ring as if it happens it will be a
big upset.
