Lamont Peterson says Amir Khan’s achievements do not matter for him – Boxing news
The Havoc, Lamont Peterson, has said he is not concerned with whatever the currently unified World Boxing Association Super and International Boxing Federation Light Welterweight Champion, Amir Khan, has achieved in his career thus far.
The Columbian pugilist believes he has the tools to overpower the Bolton’s finest in the ring.
The 27-year-old Peterson, who will challenge Khan for his titles on December 10, 2011 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Washington D.C, told the media he will step in the ring to beat Khan and therefore whatever Khan has done previously, does
not matter to him.
He said, “I’m here to win. At the end of the day, none of that [Khan’s past achievements] matters to me. When we get in the ring, what he’s done in the past does not matter. It matters what he’s going do when we get in there for 12 rounds. I believe he’s
going lose.”
Peterson will have a hometown advantage against Khan, as the fight is taking place in Peterson’s backyard. Peterson stated he is hoping his fans purchase all the tickets before Khan’s because he wants his crowd to be in the arena to put pressure on the Brit.
“Hopefully, we buy the tickets before they [Khan fans] come over and buy them, and they can be all my people and none of his. So the crowd can be loud, live and hyping me up and hopefully getting on his nerves.” Peterson added.
Peterson holds a record of winning 29 of his 31 professional fights (1 Draw), with 15 of them coming by the way of a knockout but still he will enter the ring as an underdog. However, let’s see if Peterson really has what it takes to outpoint Khan in the
ring.
Khan, who is more commonly known as King Khan, has plans to move up to the 147-pound division fighting Peterson, as he wants to set up a mega clash with the undefeated American legend Floyd Mayweather. Therefore, he will also bring out his best on the fight
night.
