Lamont Peterson talks about Team Khan’s allegations – Boxing News
Former IBF and WBA light welterweight titlist Amir Khan has had tough times with Lamont Peterson, the man who took away both of his titles. Recently, Peterson was cleared by the International Boxing Federation for using drugs, considering it was therapeutic
usage.
Khan, who felt shattered over the IBF’s decision since he was hoping to get the title back, once again claimed that Peterson is a cheat and that the IBF has supported someone who used illegal methods to win the showdown.
On the other hand, Peterson has nothing to say about Khan. In an interview with RingTV.com, Peterson was asked if he wants to go for a showdown against Khan once again.
“I'm going to tell you this. I'm going to have to leave that situation alone. Me, I'm not one to talk badly about anyone if it ain't in their face,” replied the current IBF light welterweight titlist.
It should be noted here that Peterson and Khan were meeting in a rematch on May 19 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. However, due to Peterson’s positive drug test report that emerged in April, just twenty days before the match, the fight
was cancelled.
“I don't say anything bad about them if I can't say it to their face. With that being said, I really don't want to discuss anything with him,” added Peterson who believes Khan has spoken a lot of ‘bad’ things about him.
“They said a lot of bad things, but I'm not going to say anything on the internet or anything like that. If it materializes, that would be another story. But right now, I don't need to fight him,” added Peterson, concluding his remarks regarding the entire
scenario.
For now, Peterson is happy with the IBF’s decision of letting him retain the title. He was stripped of the WBA title after the World Boxing Association announced they could not let a suspended fighter be the champion.
Peterson is looking forward to a fight against Zab Judah this year. He has Juan Manuel Marquez and Timothy Bradley in the list as well. According to Peterson, if Judah declines the offer, he will go for Marquez or Bradley.
