Chelsea’s veteran midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Luiz-c10542 and the performance that he put in against Aston Villa this past weekend.
The Brazilian international, who is traditionally used as a centre back, went on to put in a man of the match performance despite him playing as a holding midfielder in the game.
The player went on to perform brilliantly in the game, despite many initially doubting Luiz’s ability to play in the middle of the park.
Rafa Benitez had previously hinted that he could end up using one of his defenders as a holding midfielder, and that is exactly what the manager did. However, instead of the player failing to perform, he went on to put in one of the best performances that
he had produced for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786.
To top things off, Luiz even went on to score in the game via a free kick, which just went to add to the overall impact of the performance that he put in.
Lampard, when talking about Luiz and his rather brilliant performance is reported to have said: “He has the ability to play either position and he's been a fantastic central defender"
"People say that central midfield is also a role for him and I think they are right.”
"You still have to have discipline and be in the right position, and you can't take liberties, and against Villa he showed he has the discipline and the ability to do that role."
Lampard then went on to comment on Luiz and his free kick abilities, as he admitted that he was not surprised by the fact that the player scored given how well
he had been doing in the practice sessions.
"You don't see the hours put in on the training pitch to work on that technique," Lampard added.
"http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 has done it and now you are seeing the rewards because every time we get a free kick in that area you fancy him to get it on target."
Benitez is now going to have to make a tough call, and decide whether he wants to play Luiz as a centre back or a holding mid from this point onwards.
