Lan Party Help?

I am going to be running LAN parties soon on a regular basis but i haven't the faintest clue about setting one up.

There will be ten computers on the network.

Some will be running Vista ( o.O ) and others XP ( ... )

What do i need in terms of hardware.

My power distribution and usage is sorted.

I have no knowledge like i say so i will need to know all the basics.

P.S. If anyone is interested in joining me and others in this LAN party and you live in the Manchester (England) area contact me through my Yahoo account.

  1. You'll be better off with using a network switch rather than a router for performance reasons. Make sure it's a swtich though, and not a hub.

  2. I live in london, sounds like your lan party going to be cool, you will need a router, and you must decide if you are going to connect all computers wirelessly or wired, you will need the router to give each machine an ip. the OS makes no difference although im certain you will find it alot easier in vista than XP
