The match was reduced to 29 over per side following some showers at the venue. The hosts batted first and ended up with 137 for the loss of six wickets in their allotted overs.
Middle-order batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Luis-Michael-Reece-c73255 was the top scorer of the innings and the match with an unbeaten 63 runs.
In reply, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Durham-c782 2nd XI’s batting failed miserably. All batsmen were sent back to the hut for just 78 runs on the board in less than 18 overs. Opening batsman Ben Raine was the top scorer of the innings with 21 runs.
The visitors’ skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mark-Stoneman-c1910 decided to field first after winning the toss. There was plenty of cloud cover of the field, which suggested some swing for the new ball bowlers. The rain before start of play also left some moisture beneath the surface
of the wicket, which was a concern for the team batting first.
Lancashire 2nd XI got off to a terrible start, losing three wickets in quick succession. Andrea Agathangelou was the first man to be dismissed for a duck. He was followed by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jordan-Clark-c69229, who also failed to trouble the scorers.
The hosts were in deep trouble at that stage of the innings, losing three batsmen for just 12 runs on the board.
However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Luke-Anthony-Procter-c73259 and Reece guided the team out of trouble with a solid half-century partnership. The pair put together 54 runs for the fourth wicket stand before the former got dismissed after adding 43 runs to the total.
Lancashire 2nd XI’s skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Oliver-Newby-c2138 failed to make a solid impression and were sent back to the pavilion after collecting 13 and 4 runs respectively.
However, Reece did not lose concentration from the game at all and ended up with a superb half-century. He guided the team into a very good position with an unbeaten 63-run knock.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chris-Rushworth-c1250 picked up 3 wickets in the innings for the visitors, but his team’s batsmen failed to chase down the target.
Durham 2nd XI’s opener Raine looked impressive for his 21 runs, but he was unable to make a significant contribution to the total. Apart from him, only two other players Ryan Pringle and Ramanpreet Singh reached double figures, collecting 10 runs
each.
The visitors were all out for 78 runs in just 17.2 overs, giving the match away easily to the opposition.
