Lancashire 2nd XI overcame the Warwickshire 2nd XI by 39 runs in a match of the Second Eleven Trophy at the Knowle and Dorridge Cricket Club Ground in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 on Tuesday, August 2, 2011.
The visitors batted first and collected 240 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 40 overs. There were a few solid contributions by the team’s batsmen, but the highest score came from middle-order player http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Luis-Michael-Reece-c73255, who ended up with an impressive
50 runs.
In reply, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ateeq-Javid-c1104 was the top scorer of the match with 58 runs, but lacked support from the other end.
Toss was won by the home team and they put the opposition into bat. The pitch appeared to be good for the batsmen, but Javid predicted some assistance for the bowlers in the first hour of play.
This was certainly not the case, as the Lancashire 2nd XI team got off to a fantastic start. Openers Andrea Agathangelou and Louis Bentley put together a solid half-century partnership at the top of the order.
