Lancashire Oaks and Old Newton Cup 2011 at Haydock - Ascot winners Fox Hunt and Banimpire favourites
Lancashire Oaks and Old Newton Cup races at Haydock are attracting Ascot winners Banimpire and Fox Hunt.
J. S. Bolger trained, Banimpire, won the Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes for fillies at the Royal Ascot on 16 June, 2011. She defeated John Gosden’s, Field of Miracles, in a close battle.
On the other hand, Fox Hunt won the Duke of Edinburgh Stakes on 18 June, 2011, at the Royal Ascot.
Both have been made favourites to win the race. Snow Fairy the four year old bay filly, who won the Group 1 Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Cup, back in December 2010, is likely to take part in Haydock, but her connections are more focused on starting her at the
prestigious Sandown for the Coral Eclipse Stakes.
Jim Bolger’s filly is among the 14 entries at Haydock, drawn as a 3-to-1 favourite at the Eclipse. But the main focus is on the Ascot winner, Banimpire, and if he is taking part then obviously he becomes the popular entry among 14 other horses.
Banimpire’s impressive winning card states 6 wins out of 11 starts and 2 third place finishes. Prior to the Ascot win, Banimpire, won the Group 3 Kerry Group Noblesse Stakes for fillies and mares.
The three-year old brown filly defeated the Irish Sense of Purpose by a massive 3 lengths. J. S. Bolger’s filly has impressed throughout her career and there is no surprise that she has been declared the favourite to win at Haydock.
The four-year old chestnut gelding, Fox Hunt, has been finishing on the card more often than not throughout his illustrious career. On 4 June before Ascot glory, Fox Hunt, managed a three-quarter of a length victory over Berling and landed the Investec Surefooted
Handicap against a field of fifteen horses.
Out of eight starts, Fox Hunt has won thrice and finished second once.
Snow Fairy, who could end up racing at the Coral Eclipse Stakes, with the likes of ex-Australian So You Think, and, Derby and Arc winner, Workforce, is already among the 14 entrants to start at Haydock, which is scheduled on the same date as the Sandown
races, 2 July, 2011.
Fox Hunt could also deviate from the Haydock and head down to race at Sandown in the Coral Marathon but for now he is set to make an impact at Haydock. It is a race for young progressive horses and the Ascot winner is one of the favourites.
Trained by Mark Johnston, Fox Hunt is up for the Old Newton Cup and he is a 6-to-1 favourite to win the race.
