Lancashire beat West Indies-A team by 53 runs in a tour match, at old Trafford Manchester.
Batting first the county side led by a brilliant 97 runs from Procter who put up a decent total of 271 runs, but the visitors could not get used to the English conditions and fell short and were all out for just 218 runs.
Lancashire won the toss and elected to bat first the decision turned out to be a good one, as the openers put on a splendid opening stand, Procter and Brown took on the West Indian attack and started playing strokes right from the very first over. Proctor who is known to be one of the most talented players in the English county did not do anything to harm his reputation. He was severe on anything slightly wide of the stumps, while Brown was a little more circumspect.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Private-Proctor-c41015 continued to be the dominant partner and continued to pile on the runs, West Indies-A bowlers clearly looked like they did not know how to use the English conditions to their advantage, as they kept spraying the ball all over the place.
The partnership was eventually broken when http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brown-c48671 was caught in deep by Edwards off the bowling of Martin; Brown scored 56 runs from 80 balls with 6 boundaries.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Moore-c77694 the next man in was sent back quickly after scoring just 2 runs; he was caught by Bravo for Martin’s 2nd wicket.
Wickets kept tumbling from one end while Proctor continued to look solid at the other, Croft and Procter added 26 runs before Procter was finally dismissed after scoring 97 runs he fell just 3 short of what would have been an excellent century, he scored 9 fours and 2 sixes in his innings, he was caught by Baker on the bowling of Stoute.
Croft batting at number 4 did not last long either and was caught by Andrew Fletcher after scoring just 11, his wicket was picked up by Stoute.
Cross and Sutton then added 29 runs for the 6 wicket, Cross was dismissed for 30 from 30 balls with 4 boundaries, and Sutton scored 25 from 22 with 3 fours.
Lancashire ended their innings at 271 and was all out on the final ball of the innings. Stoute picked up a first class record of 8 wickets for 52 runs.
In reply http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760-A did get off to a decent start, the openers put on 33 runs before Philips was LBW to Hogg after scoring 17 from 23 balls with 3 fours.
Fletcher and Darren Bravo (brother of Dwayne Bravo) added 34 for the 2nd wicket before Fletcher was cleaned up by Keedy, he scored 30 runs from 55 balls with 3 fours and a six.
Next wicket followed soon as Edwards was also bowled by Keedy after scoring just 2 runs, and Keedy got his 3rd wicket in the same manner when he knocked back the stumps of Darren Bravo, Bravo scored 27 runs from 39 balls with 4 fours.
West Indies were short on partnerships, and even though the target ahead of them was not massive but they still needed a good partnership in the middle of the innings to have any chance of scoring 272.
The only resistance came from Khan batting at number 7; he scored 74 runs from 63 balls with 11 boundaries, but had no support from the other end.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319 continued to play big shots as wicket kept going down at the other end, eventually he was caught behind and the match was all but over for visitors by then.
They finally folded for 218 falling 53 runs short of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lancashire-c806 score.
