On Thursday, May 24, in the ongoing County Championship Division One, Middlesex trail by 237 runs with five wickets in hand after they posted a total of 155 runs in their first innings against Lancashire, at stumps on the second day of the match played at Aigburth, Liverpool.

Prince became the first wicket of the day when he was caught by Rayner off the bowling of Berg after piling a resounding knock of 144 runs, leaving his side standing on a total of 321.
Procter was then soon to follow as he lost his wicket at a time when his side had posted 325 runs. The batsman found his way off the field after staggering an impressive knock of 39 runs.
With both overnight batsmen back in the pavilion, Lancashire needed to initiate a rebuild phase in order to avoid an early demise in their first innings.
