May 03: http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lancashire-c806 after having made 48 runs in response to the first innings total of 169 runs posted by Nottinghamshire, the side resumed their first innings on the second day of the four-day match in the County Championship Division One contest, in a bid to counter the lead taken by their rivals at Old Trafford, Manchester.
From Lancashire, SC http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Moore-c77694, who was not out on an overnight tally of 23 was joined by Karl Brown as the two aimed to score high against the Notts.
However, this was not to be as on the third delivery of the day Brown had to take a long walk back to the pavilion after getting bowled-out on a delivery by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andre-Adams-c1033. At the time of his demise the side had hammered only 52 runs on the board.
Moore on the other hand, was in no mood to play a slow innings as he went after the bowlers right from the first delivery, hammering away all the bad balls.
However, his fiery innings came to an end with him walking back to the pavilion after belting 43 runs, leaving his side standing on a tally of 83.
Lancashire seemed in a hurry, perhaps due to the fact that there were reports of showers later in the day and were aiming to impose a big total before the interruption of rain.
However, this hastiness caused their demise as they lost focus and the batsmen kept falling without putting up much of a fight against the bowlers.
Consequently, the side faltered after posting 146 runs, as their lower-order completely failed to put up a show.
Adams from Nottinghamshire was extremely lethal as he took seven wickets to leave Lancashire flabbergasted, while spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GP-Swann-c1501 stayed behind with three wickets to his name.
With already being ahead of their opponents, Notts resumed their second innings, but received an early blow on losing their first wicket with only eight runs on the board, however, opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Lumb-c1981 took hold of things by belting 40 runs each as they dictated the sequence of events.
Later the side piled 122 runs at stumps with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Samit-Patel-c2426 unbeaten on 21 alongside Lumb, as the side secured a lead by 145 runs against Lancashire.
