With the clouds of relegation looming over them, Lancashire on Friday, gave opponents Somerset a target of 279 runs to win the four-day match, at Aigburth, Liverpool.

However, the side had a shocking start to their innings, losing their first wicket without a run on the board.
Lancashire had not recovered from this shock when they lost two more wickets with only seven runs on the board.
With such a start, Lancashire were heading for a complete meltdown and needed someone to bat them out of this disastrous situation.

KW Hogg and Prince then initiated a second rebuild phase, as Lancashire desperately needed to hold on to the match.
Somerset were completely taken by surprise as they had not expected Lancashire to bounce back after losing half of their batsmen.
However, Prince and Hogg exhibited their supreme class, as they took the Somerset bowlers by the horns and smacked them out of town.

It was then time for skipper, G Chapple, to take the field, while at the other end Prince was batting beautifully to get Lancashire back in the game.
Things took a drastic turn when Chapple was dismissed with 180 runs on the board. Prince then took charge and smacked a brilliant knock of 129 runs to help his team bolster a tally of 242 at the end of their innings.
Somerset then managed to post 22 runs for the loss of one wicket before stumps.
