Lancashire v Worcestershire - County Championship Division One - Day 2 - Live Score and Update
Worcestershire 291 & 9/0 (3.2 ov) v Lancashire 162 - Worcestershire lead by 138 runs with 10 wickets remaining
Fans at Old Trafford, Manchester witnessed a thrilling second day of play between Lancashire and Worcestershire, as both teams gave a cutthroat performance to leave the other in ruins and complete disarray.
After the first day saw http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Worcestershire-c866 batsmen dominating the sequence of events and hammering a first innings tally of 291 runs, the second day was equally productive with Worcestershire taking a lead of 138 runs against the mighty Lancashire at stumps.
Earlier, the day began with Lancashire resuming their first innings from a tally of 13, as PJ Horton and SC Moore walked out to guide their team to a staggering total in order to neutralize the first innings score posted by their opponents.
It was imperative for Lancashire to take lead in order to pose a serious threat to Worcestershire, at Old Trafford, Manchester.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Moore-c77694 became the first casualty of the day by losing his wicket after scoring an innings of 26 runs.
Horton was then quick to lose his ground as with 65 runs on the board, he was removed by SH Choudhry after bolstering an innings of 34 runs.
With both openers back in the pavilion, it was time for the middle-order to regroup and forge a counter offensive in order to control the opposition.
However, this seemed like a farfetched idea, as their next wicket fell with 68 runs on the scoreboard, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AG-Prince-c949 failing after scoring only a run.
The demise of Prince exerted enormous pressure on the batting side, who now desperately needed the remaining batsmen to hold their nerve in order to stay on the wicket till the end of the day.
Nonetheless, MM Ali and SH Choudhry from Worcestershire made mincemeat of Lancashire’s batting line-up by grabbing six and four wickets, consequently reducing them on a tally of 162.
Worcestershire then scored nine runs without any loss in their second innings, as they now look in a winning position unless rain ruins the remaining two days of play.
